Summary |
Patients with traumatic brain injuries often develop brain lesions over time, which may lead to degenerative neurological diseases in the future. Therefore, early administration of medications that promote neural regeneration following brain injury is the solution for treatment. The invention provides uses of the Isorhoifolin derivatives for promoting regeneration of injured brain neurons and retinal neurons. Isorhoifolin also promotes recovery of motor function deficit. |
Scientific Breakthrough |
There is currently no drug to promote nerve repair for patients suffer frombrain injury. The invention provides uses of the Isorhoifolin and its derivatives for promoting regeneration of injured brain neurons and retinal neurons. Isorhoifolin can pass the blood-brain barrier either through intranasalor intravenous administration. Isorhoifolin also promotes recovery of motor function deficit. |
Industrial Applicability |
Higher than 60% patients with traumatic brain injury are young and mid-age adults. Early treatment of these patient largely reduces neuronal deathdue to chronic inflammation. Moreover, the use of this invention would reduce the risk for developing neurodegenerative diseases. This invention isintended to be used in medical center to treat motor function deficit caused by traumatic brain injury. |
