In the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), robot manufacturing is a comprehensive engineering practice that integrates multiple fields of technology. Students and mentors must apply knowledge in mechanics, electrical control, programming, and project management in order to complete a robot that meets specifications and is capable of handling competition challenges within a limited time.

Teams need to be proficient with CAD software and mechanism design, ensuring that structures balance strength, rigidity, and lightweight construction.
