Scientific Breakthrough
The main technique breakthrough of this project is on the building of a multi-function communication experimental payload for the PEARL CubeSat. The payload comprises Software-Defined Radio (SDR) Platform, K/Ka-Band RF frontendantennas. The function of the complete LEO CubeSat communication payload is configurable which is designedimplemented on the FPGA part of the SDR platform. The modes of the communication system for LEO CubeSat include: 1) Transponder Mode 2) Transceiver Mode 3) Payload Communication Mode 4) Channel Sounding Mode.
Industrial Applicability
Recently, the techniques using LEO satellite constellation for providing high-throughput mobile communications with wide coverage are attracting many academic/industrial research/development interests, such as SpaceX, OneWeb, Telesat, Amazon. The main goal of this project is on the building of a multi-function communication experimental payload for the PEARL CubeSat, which is capable of a chance for setting up the required core techniques domesticallyalso providing a real-field experimental environment for related domestic industries such as antenna, RF, modemetc
