Technical Name An Affordable Automatic Turn-Over Mechanism for Prevention of Pressure Ulcers
Project Operator Far East University
Project Host 陳玉崗
Summary
A type of roll-over machine consisting of a bracket, pulley block, roll-up device, and sling, in which the bottom end of the stand rests on the bed and the top mounts on the pulley. The sling is located on the block of pulleys. One side of the sling is suspended from the rollover frame and the other side is rolled onto the motor reel for reeling or stretching. The machine can change the patient's position from horizontal to side by means of a sling rope, and can change the direction of the patient's side.
Scientific Breakthrough
The most effective way to prevent pressure ulcers is to turn the patient around every two hours to eliminate back pressure. The patients mostly rely on human assistance to help them turn over regularly. This technology includes two sets of L-shaped brackets, motors, pulleys and slings. The sling is set on the pulley, one end is connected to the turn over cloth frame, and the other end is connected to the motor pulley. When the two motors alternately forward and reverse, the sling can be driven up and down, and the patient can be alternately raised and lowered left and right, which reduces the pressure on the back of the patient and effectively prevents the occurrence of pressure ulcers.
Industrial Applicability
At present, the population of long-term bed-ridden patients in advanced countries in the world is growing rapidly, and Taiwanese companies also have a place in the market of assistive devices. Therefore, companies must continue to innovate and research and develop technologies in order to maintain their leading position in the world market for long-term assistive devices. This developed technology has a simple and cost down mechanism design, and can be applied to various beds. This product can be used in the market of assistive devices, long-term care products, hospitals, nursing homes, families, etc.
