Technical Name Digital Twin UAV AI Training and Validation Platform
Project Operator National Center for High-performance Computing, National Institutes of Applied Research
Project Host 蔡宗哲
Summary
This platform provides a digital twin environment for developing and validating AI-enabled UAV systems. Built on Omniverse and a cloud-based UAV command platform, it presents mission routes, flight paths, vehicle attitude, and real-time flight status in high-fidelity 3D scenes. The demo also shows target tracking, allowing AI control results to be reviewed in a safe, repeatable environment before moving toward real-world validation.
Scientific Breakthrough
The key innovation is a UAV AI validation workflow that connects digital twin simulation with real UAV control logic. The platform includes a UAV simulator with a MAVLink-compatible control interface and a realistic flight physics engine, allowing AI models to be trained, tested, and verified in virtual scenes. This reduces the cost and risk of field testing and helps narrow the gap between simulation results and real UAV deployment.
Industrial Applicability
The platform can support smart UAVs, logistics delivery, inspection, disaster response, smart city services, and autonomous mobile systems. It can also link real UAVs with the virtual environment by mapping position, attitude, flight status, and mission data into 3D scenes in real time. In the future, LLMs and AI Agents can turn natural-language missions into plans, UAV commands, and workflows for multi-UAV coordination and swarm operations.
