Summary
"1.	The modular design of a electric breaker is proposed. A prototype of a solid-state circuit with an input voltage of 500 Vadjustable rated current including 50 A, 100 A, 150 A200 A. 
2.	Achieved zero-current cutoff within 110 µs using the characteristics of IGBTs to detect the current value. 
3.	A12 bits analog/digital converter is used to achieve a higher accuracy current detection effect when compared with the conventional analog circuit. It can also detect the fault current rising ratecorrespond to different protection delay times according to the different fault current rising rate, so that the components in the solid-state breaker can withstand a lower fault current."
Scientific Breakthrough
"The proposed circuit contains an inductor, a bridge RCD snubberan auxiliary switch. The features of it are current detection without hall sensorany other auxiliary devicescurrent limiting by operating IGBT’s region,energy absorbing by snubber with current zero-crossing.
The specifications of the proposed DC solid-state breaker are a maximum supply voltage of 500 Va 200 A current rating. Overload protection is implemented for three specific loads: 2.2, 1,0 Ω. The simulations are 98 , accurate, which is the main contribution of this study. The proposed circuit breaker allows current detection without the need for a Hall element, a current detecting resistora current transformerthe current is limited by de-saturating the IGBT."
Industrial Applicability
Renewable sources are inherently compatible with DC system, such as photovoltaic plants,offshore wind farms. The output power of renewable source are depent on environment. The storage systems such as batteriesaccumulators are necessary for renewable system,they are also inherently DC energy supplies. The protection circuit can be applied for DC circuit breaker. It can also detect the fault current rising ratecorrespond to different protection delay times according to the different fault current rising rate, so that the components in the solid-state breaker can withstand a lower fault current.
