Technical Name The secret recipe and novel procedure for the synthesis of highly efficient porous nanophotocatalyst
Project Operator National Taipei University of Technology
Project Host 李嘉甄
Summary
Porous microspheres are easily synthesized via the facile one-step procedure proposed in this invention, which its pore size and chemical composition are able to be adjusted. For an application example, a synthesized porous TiO2 microsphere composited with ferrite obtains a greatly improved photocatalytic efficiency and enhanced conversion efficiency for use in dye-sensitized solar cells.
Scientific Breakthrough
A new type of designed copolymers is proposed for the formation of porous polymeric microspheres, and this polymer-based porous microspheres are easily transferred into inorganic-based. The resulted porous microspheres exhibit good morphological quality by neither use of porogens nor requirement of complicated multi-step emulsifications.
Industrial Applicability
Because of high porosity, the microspheres exhibit high surface area and are appropriate for being used in wide industrial applications, such as being catalysts, absorbers, filters, drug-delivers, battery materials, etc. By the use of the self-made polymers, the procedure of manufacturing the composite porous spheres becomes easier employed, which is beneficial for keeping the cost down.
