Technical Name Development of a “non-invasive cervical ring” medical device for preventing preterm labor /DEVICE, INSTRUMENT AND BELT FOR TYING CERVIX
Project Operator CHANG GUNG MEDICAL FOUNDATION
Project Host 鄭博仁
Summary
The medical device has a belt and an instrument: a first outer pipe and a second outer pipe, two-fork structure, a claw mechanism, and a first inner pipe and a second inner pipe. The instrument of this medical device aim to bring and fix the belt around the cervix. The belt of this medical device aim to tie around and tighten the cervix. The usage of this medical device is to prevent cervical dilatation, to treat cervical incompetency and prevent miscarriage and preterm delivery.
Scientific Breakthrough
Cervical incompetency represents a major cause of preterm deliveries. The treatment modalities including cervical cerclage and vaginal pessary which involved complicated surgical procedure or proven to be non-effective. This non-invasive cervical ring medical device is developed for effectively treat cervical incompetency and furthermore prevent preterm deliveries.
Industrial Applicability
The non-invasive cervical ring medical device was developed to replace the traditional surgery for treating cervical incompetency. The Device had been filed in the United States, China and Taiwan, and will be authorized to cooperate with biotechnology companies. The clinical trials will be further completed and popularized through Taiwan, Asia Pacific, and all over the world to maximize its industrial value.
