| Summary |
• Multi-depth monitoring: one borehole provides depth-specific water-level and water-quality data through independent channels.
• Representative sampling: filter media and sealing layers reduce vertical mixing between aquifers.
• Efficient installation: the single-pipe architecture reduces pipe entanglement, land use, materials, cost, and carbon emissions.
• Applications: contaminated sites, industrial parks, groundwater monitoring, hot springs, and geothermal fields. |
| Scientific Breakthrough |
Our team developed a single-borehole, single-pipe, multi-channel system to overcome the limitations of conventional single-screen wells, multi-pipe wells, and packer systems. Independent concentric channels can be assigned to selected aquifer depths for long-term monitoring and sampling, while filter media and sealing layers minimize vertical mixing. The system is protected by Taiwan Invention Patent I769405 and has completed 3D-printed prototyping, sandbox testing, full-scale fabrication, and field verification. Integration with VSAFT3 supports source identification and precision remediation. Carbon emissions reduction:39.5%. Technical readiness:TRL 6. |
| Industrial Applicability |
The system meets industry needs for long-term, depth-specific, and representative groundwater data. It is compatible with conventional water-level meters, sampling devices, and pumping equipment, lowering the barrier to field adoption. Full-scale fabrication and field installation have been verified, and a stratified-monitoring pilot at a contaminated site is planned to combine pumping tests, depth-specific water-quality sampling, and VSAFT3 analysis. Patent protection supports licensing, technology transfer, co-development, scalable manufacturing, and commercialization. |
