Summary
The 30 kVA grid-forming inverter for energy storage system is proposed in this research, which integrating the supervisory systempower inverter. The supervisory system instructs the power inverter for automatic frequency control (AFC), photovoltaic output smoothing,load compensation for contract capacity, etc. As the power inverter is connected with the grid, the realreactive power is provided toreceived from the grid by the commend of the supervisory system.
Scientific Breakthrough
As the conventional grid following inverter can not provide the grid voltage alone without main power grid, the grid forming inverter which can provide regulated voltage source is presented. For the high power densitypower conversion efficiency, the SiC power switch is adopted in the built power inverters.
Industrial Applicability
Applying the GFM inverter with ESS into the microgrid, the microgrid can sustain powering the regional load with independent voltage source,regulate the power from the grid for smoothing the demand. Besides, the uninterrupted power supplying with high quality power improves the stabilityreliability of the regional power grid.
