Summary
Sonicballoon have developed an innovative ultrasound system for atherosclerosis. The first go-to-market product is a special designed balloon catheter with ultrasound transducermicrobubbles. With the precisely controlled of acoustic pressure, the inertial cavitation is inducedgenerate shockwave instantly. It can modify the structure of calcified inside the artery, which lower the inflation pressure of balloon catheterthe risk of balloon rupture in blood vessel. Feedback system will also be combined to provide more safesmart solution in the future.
Scientific Breakthrough
The principle of our technology is the inertial cavitation from microbubble induced by ultrasound. When the amplitude of the ultrasonic wave exceeds the threshold, the microbubble will collapsegenerate shockwave. We uses a catheter-sized piezoelectric tube to generate ultrasonic waves, inducing microbubbles to generate shockwave,through in vitropig blood vessel experiments to verify the efficiencysafety of reducing the balloon inflation pressure, demonstrating its breakthrough advantages in the scientific perspectives,having the potential to become an innovative medical solution for heavily calcified lesions.
Industrial Applicability
Atherosclerosis is a common disease that cause blocked blood flow. It is more common in developed countriesincreases year by year, causing loss of lifemoney. By combining the unique shockwave technology with balloon catheter, our team can overcome many problems of the current main treatmentslower the risk of the surgery. In the future, with the characteristics of ultrasound that can receive feedback signals, feedback system will be designed to know the progress of treatment. It has the potential to develop into smart healthcare.
