Technical Name PARASPECKLE COMPONENT 1 (PSPC1) PROMOTING EPITHELIAL-MESENCHYMAL TRANSITION, STEMNESS AND METASTASIS AS AN ANTI-CANCER TARGET
Project Operator Academia Sinica
Project Host 周玉山
Summary
PSPC1 C-terminal containing an extension of more than 10 but no greater than 131 amino acid residues exhibits anticancer activity. The anti-tumor activity of PSPC1-CT131 suppresses tumor cell growth; progression; metastasis via decreasing oncogenic PSPC1 and PTK6. Also disclosed a reagent kit and method for predicting tumor progression, metastasis, and prognosis in a cancer patient.
Scientific Breakthrough
PSPC1 is the contextual determinant of oncogenic PSPC1/PTK6/β-catenin axis highlight a subcellular translocation switch. PSPC1-CT131 is a dual inhibitor of PSPC1 and tyrosine kinase PTK6 for potential improvement of cancer therapy.
Industrial Applicability
PSPC1 C-terminal containing an anti-tumor activity of PSPC1-CT131 suppresses tumor cell growth, progression, metastasis via decreasing oncogenic PSPC1 and PTK6. An absence or a decrease in the expression level of PSPC1 pY523 in nucleus via antibody against PSPC1 Tyr 523 phosphorylation (pY523) compared to a control tissue sample indicates tumor progression, metastasis and poor tumor prognosis.
