Summary
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common disorder involving wrist and hand. Its symptoms include numbness, tingling, clumsiness, pain, and paresthesia of hand. It can affect about 4.9-10% of general population, especially workers with long-term repetitive motion activities. There are about 10,000 people who need surgical treatment per year in Taiwan. This newly-designed device is developed for minimal invasive procedure to treat carpal tunnel syndrome. It can be applied by orthopaedic, neurological, and plastic surgeons. This device is able to combine with endoscopic system. This disposable and integrated device includes a minimal-invasive expander and knife to decrease the size of surgical wound and the cost of disinfection. Its ergonomic design enables fast and easy operation for surgeons.
Scientific Breakthrough
The limiting piece of this product can protect the neurovascular structure and tendon while incising the transverse ligament. It can combine with endoscopic system. Its ergonomic design enables fast and easy operation for surgeons.
Industrial Applicability
This product is applied by orthopaedic, neurosurgery, and plastic surgeons for minimally invasive surgery to treat patients with carpal tunnel syndrome. Most of the patients are workers with long-term repetitive motion activities of wrist. 
It is estimated that there is a demand of NT$500 million in Taiwan market, NT$25 billion in China, and NT$20 billion in India.
