Technical Description The design strategy mainly focuses on reducing the detection time and providing the facile monitoring method. The visual detection of sodium salt by naked eyes is combined with electrochemical analysis for quantitative examination. Moreover, the sensing results are directly linked to wireless communication platform and the data will be transferred to institutions such as hospital, long-term care center or the home health care, which provides the convenient route to attain feedback with the hospital staffs. For detection, the target urine is mixed with gold-nanoparticle probes, and the tested solution less than 100 uL is withdrawn onto the disposable device for examination. In addition, the govern data will be displayed on smart phone by inserting tested sample into the sensor platform, and the results can be obtained within about 30 seconds.
Scientific Breakthrough 1.The visual and instant detection of sodium salt is realized using Au-nanoparticle probes. In addition, the electrochemical analysis is employed for the precisely quantitative evaluation of sodium salts.
2.The sensor is based on the combination of minimalized potentiostat and remote monitoring, and can additionally link to smart phone as display interface for providing instant and feasible examination.
3.The design can subcutaneously ease the treatment procedures and reduce the analytic duration, and the total detection only requires less than 30 s.
Industrial Applicability The aim of this proposed technique is for providing remote medical care and real-time monitoring through the integration of precise detection of sodium ions and wireless transporting technique. Thus, the data will be sent back to the database system of hospital so that the staffs can instantly evaluate the health condition of the patients. The required detection time is substantially reduced to 30 s based on trace amount of tested samples. Besides, owing from the specificity of the electrical potential at different organic functional groups and electrolyte cations in biological system, the research may be further applicable on the drug test under microscale measurement.
