Summary
This breaking-through technique aims to develop individual digital twin models for the assessed structures such as implants and machining tools. Through the developed internet of inspection and assessment device the digital twin model of specific implant structure can be constructed by using daily collected data besides assessing the osseointegration status of varied stages. The built model may trace the subject’s osseointegration changing. Additionally, the IoT-embedded device can also be applied in a production line for the health inspection of taps and drills.
With this device, we expect to provide more information about the implant stability clinically to assist surgeons in effectively evaluating the stability of the implant after surgery, and to establish the digital twin model for patients at following stages after implantation. The above procedure also applies to the structure inspection for cutting tools such as taps and drills on an industrial production line.
Scientific Breakthrough
This technique features at realizing inspection and assessment device with electro-magnetic (or vibro-acoustic) mechanism. Through the developed internet of inspection and assessment device individual digital twin models for the assessed structures such as implants and machining tools can be built up. The attached accessories for measurement need to be designed according to individual implant or tool structure. Besides, a swept wavelet excitation signal vibrates implant or tool structure to be inspected. Then, the stability of structure is assessed through the computed frequency response function.
Industrial Applicability
This IoT device can be used for initial stability and continuous follow-up evaluation after implant surgery in the areas of dental implants, prosthetic limbs, hand and foot implants, etc. It provides more information on the osseointegration of the implant-extremity skeletal interface clinically to help physicians effectively assess the postoperative implant stability of patients. Besides, the device can be applied in the inspection for preventing abrupt breakage of taps and drills on industrial production lines. By uploading the collected data, the digital twin models of implant or tool structure to be monitored can be created.
