Summary
This is a method to synthesis UV excited phosphor with multiple emission frequency. By controlling the sintering time and temperature, the phase transition from M2-xSi5N8: Rx to M1-ySi6N8: Ry can be tuned. Such different ratio of 258 and168 phase results in different emission color. This method needs only one time sintering. The second time sintering and addition of phosphor with other color is not necessary.
Scientific Breakthrough
The present invention is a method for producing inorganic materials of nitride phosphors, which have multiple emission color resulting from the phase transition between M2-xSi5N8: Rx and M1-ySi6N8: Ry. There are two phases which are M2-xSi5N8: Rx and M1-ySi6N8: Ry in this inorganic material. The emission color of these two phase are different, however our researching results show the M2-xSi5N8: Rx undergoes phase transition and produces M1-ySi6N8: Ry phase under proper condition. The production of the M1-ySi6N8: Ry phase can be controlled by varying the sintering temperature and duration time. Due to the presence of this second phase with different emission color, the emission color can thus be changed, for example, the emission color can be changed from red to pink, from pink to purple, and from purple to blue. In traditional method, the pink phosphor can only be produced by mixing the blue and red phosphor, so the two times sintering can’t be avoid. In this method, the phosphor with multiple emission color can be produced by sintering only one time but not two times. The addition of the other phosphor is also unnecessary. The initial phase of the phosphor is M2-xSi5N8: Rx which can be gradually transferred into M1-ySi6N8: Ry by carefully control the sintering temperature and duration. These two phases emit different colors after excited by UV or blue light, thus the phosphors emit multiple colors.
