AI-MFTSS to Debut at the 2026 Future Tech Pavilion
The Railway Technology Center at National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST) will unveil its Multi-Sensor Fusion Target Tracking and Suppression System (AI-MFTSS) at the 2026 Future Tech Pavilion.
Built on high-reliability railway control, safety engineering, and heterogeneous system integration, the technology extends railway safety expertise into smart defense applications across land, maritime, and aerial platforms.
All-Weather Situational Awareness Through Sensor Fusion
AI-MFTSS integrates electro-optical sensors, thermal imaging, radar, and radio-frequency data with AI-powered target recognition, multi-target tracking, threat assessment, and intelligent decision-making.
By combining the strengths of multiple sensors, the system reduces the limitations caused by weather, lighting, and environmental interference, improving detection accuracy, response speed, and situational awareness.
Its modular, cross-platform architecture can be integrated with ground vehicles, drones, unmanned surface vessels, and existing defense systems. Potential applications include counter-drone operations, critical infrastructure protection, border surveillance, autonomous vehicles, and national security.
Railway SIL4 Safety Principles Enhance Reliability
A key feature of AI-MFTSS is the application of railway Safety Integrity Level 4 (SIL4) principles to defense systems. The team has incorporated high-reliability control, traceability, real-time monitoring, and fault-tolerant design to improve system stability in high-risk and interference-intensive environments.
The technology has reached Technology Readiness Level 6 (TRL 6), with prototype development and field validation completed.
Live Demonstration of Detection and Response
At the exhibition, visitors can experience a scenario-based demonstration covering target detection, tracking, classification, threat analysis, and response. A command-and-control interface will display target locations, movement paths, and system status in real time.
The demonstration will also show how the system can be rapidly configured for different platforms and missions.
