More than 10 million people worldwide suffer from acute kidney injury, killing nearly 2 million people each year. Severe patients with acute kidney injury are prone to multiple organ failure and death. Today's medical devices do not have suitable diagnostic equipment. Acute kidney injury misses the prime time of treatment, and may cause chronic kidney damage or even dialysis. This put patients, hospitals and NHI (National Health Insurance) under heavy burdens of 50 billion medical expenses. And also leads to high risks of medical disputes. This product provides "Microfluidic sensing system for on-site rapid detection of early-stage acute kidney injury" for the hospital's intensive care unit, operating room, nephrology department and cardiology department. It can replace the lengthy and cumbersome traditional instrumentation and easily access at the point of care.
The developed sensing system consists of a fully integrated microfluidic chip with a handheld chip reader. The blood filter, the vacuum module, and the artificial antibody are directly integrated on the microfluidic chip. The blood sample does not need to be pre-treated by the centrifuge, and there’s no external tubing connection and reagents. The developed microfluidic chip realizes the concept of lab on a chip. IVD R.E.D. Microfluidic Chip features a fully integrated chips, without the need for large expensive machines and complicated chemical steps, can quickly detect sample results on site, greatly reducing the time for sample processing.
