• METHOD FOR LOWERING CANNIBALISM RATE IN FISH AND COMPOSITION

2019 -10 -15
Aquaculture is closely related with climates, occurrence of extreme global climate has caused huge decrease in global fish supply and shortage of raw materials like fish meal and fish oil. These have affected aquaculture feed supply chain. Chemical drugs are used to solve the problems but creating more doubts in food safety issue.
This technology using algae, a natural raw ingredient to develop a series of novel functional aquafeed additives, 1).an algae strain(Chlorella vulgaris FSP-E) is selected to substitute for fish meal as raw material for feed, it greatly lowers the feed production cost, 2.)and an algae strain(C. sorokiniana MS-C1 & SU-9) is selected to replace fish oil in the feed as attractant. 3).An algae strain(Aurantiochytrium mangrovei BL10) with high unsaturated fatty acid can change serotonin and blood cortisol level in fish brain, decrease cannibalism rate in fishes, this in turn increase total harvesting rate.
Application of this technique to aquaculture can lower feed production cost, increase fish development, overcome dilemma in aquaculture and minimize the impact of climate change.
