Summary
Overall, we are monitoring plant growth and development as related to environmental factors in open field. We also constructed a database for the collection of disease symptoms and insect pest. Sensors for detecting microclimate in the paddy field have been modularized. Finally, we constructed a plant height characteristic, disease/pathogen infection spot identification, insect damage spots identification system.
Scientific Breakthrough
This system provides early diagnosis, medication, prevention to avoid the spread of pests and diseases. This technique can reduce pesticide use and pest resistance. The microclimate in the field will determine whether the disease occurs or not. The weather station is not enough to show the effect of the microclimate. Therefore, the microclimate in the canopy of the field is established to disease early warning.
Industrial Applicability
This early warning system automatically informs the management team before significant damage to the crops, effectively reducing farm losses and reducing only a small portion of rice production with suitable water use. In terms of pests and diseases, we can immediately discover rice fever and bacterial blight, and establish a microclimate model for early warning diseases.
