NSTC Launches 2026 AI Innovation Award with NT$6 Million Prize Pool for Healthcare AI Solutions

The 2026 AI Innovation Award, jointly organized by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), Compal Electronics, Taiwan Tech Arena (TTA), and Taipei Computer Association (TCA), is now open for applications until July 31, 2026, at 5:00 PM.

With a total prize pool of NT$6 million, the competition aims to support innovative AI teams in transforming ideas into real-world solutions. In addition to cash awards, selected teams will gain access to industry mentorship, enterprise resources, and proof-of-concept (PoC) opportunities to accelerate commercialization.

Focus on Smart Healthcare Innovation

This year's competition centers on three key healthcare themes:

• Clinical Diagnosis and Medical Decision Support
• Smart Care and Home Health Management
• Smart Hospital Operations and Robotic Services

The program encourages teams to integrate AI, robotics, software, and hardware technologies to develop intelligent systems capable of perception, decision-making, and action. Particular emphasis is placed on Embodied AI and Physical AI applications that address real-world healthcare challenges.

Industry Collaboration and Real-World Validation

Compal Electronics will provide industry-driven problem statements and access to testing environments, enabling participating teams to validate their solutions in practical settings. Through mentorship and field testing, teams can strengthen system integration capabilities, improve solution reliability, and explore future collaboration opportunities with industry partners.

The competition is open to startups, academic institutions, research centers, and interdisciplinary teams. Evaluation will focus on system integration, implementation capability, and real-world deployment potential.

Winning teams will be recognized and showcase their solutions at the Taiwan Healthcare+ Expo from December 3–6, 2026.
