• 2025 AI Innovation Award Reveals Eight Winning Teams Shaping the Future of AI

2025 -10 -23

The eight winning teams of the inaugural “2025 AI Innovation Award,” jointly organized by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) and Compal Electronics, have officially been announced, showcasing the future of AI innovation.

The competition attracted nearly 1,500 innovative proposals in its first year. After multiple rounds of rigorous evaluation by a professional judging panel, eight outstanding teams were selected, with each receiving a NT$1 million award.

The winning teams will exhibit their technologies at the Future Tech Pavilion during the Taiwan Innotech Expo (TIE Expo) from October 16 to 18, and will also participate in the “AI Future: Innovative Application Technology Presentation” on October 18 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM.

The inaugural AI Innovation Award highlights how artificial intelligence is transforming diverse sectors, spanning urban safety, clinical healthcare, education, and everyday industry applications. These projects embody the core mission behind the award: encouraging startups and innovators to use technological capabilities to solve real-world problems and drive meaningful social impact.

Award-winning teams will also receive comprehensive incubation resources provided by Compal Electronics, including storytelling workshops and a three-stage mentorship program covering pain-point analysis, business model validation, market feedback collection, and partnership feasibility assessments. The initiative aims to help innovative technologies move beyond concepts and achieve real-world implementation.

Smart City Applications: AI Safeguarding Public Safety

As urban environments become increasingly complex, public safety has emerged as a critical issue.

In the smart city category, Fuju Intelligent Technology’s “SafeSwim AI Drowning Detection System” was developed specifically for water safety applications. By integrating computer vision and generative AI technologies, the system achieves a detection accuracy rate of up to 98%.

The solution has already been deployed at multiple facilities in Japan and has successfully supported real-life rescue operations. The technology is now expanding into open-water environments such as parks, rivers, and ports, offering a scalable global water safety solution that overcomes the limitations of traditional manual monitoring.

Smart Healthcare: Enhancing Medical Efficiency and Patient Care Through AI

In the smart healthcare category, three winning teams demonstrated the growing impact of AI in clinical environments.

The Graduate Institute of Data Science at Taipei Medical University developed the “AIDE Emergency AI Decision System,” which integrates patient symptoms, vital signs, and wearable device data to predict patient conditions and resource needs in real time. The system optimizes emergency room triage and resource allocation while offering strong modularization and international expansion potential.

TaiOne Technology introduced “TaiOne Care GPT,” which incorporates large language models into clinical workflows to provide comprehensive smart healthcare services and personalized medical decision support. The platform has already exceeded 100,000 monthly users and has been adopted by multiple hospitals, accelerating the practical deployment of AI in healthcare.

Another winning innovation, the “Smart Optical Bone Density Analyzer,” provides a simplified and accessible approach to osteoporosis screening. Using non-invasive optical scanning and AI algorithms to predict bone density, the device is easy to operate, cost-effective, and particularly suitable for communities and remote regions, improving access to early osteoporosis detection.

Education and Entertainment: AI-Driven Innovation in Learning and Talent Development

The education and entertainment category focused on immersive AI-powered learning experiences that integrate virtual and physical environments.

The Medical Education Metaverse Team developed an “AI-Driven Virtual Patient Simulation Platform” that combines real-time feedback systems and instructor support tools to create a standardized, interdisciplinary clinical education environment. The platform helps students strengthen clinical reasoning and decision-making skills.

Meanwhile, ARC_Ark introduced the “Sprout Early Development System,” which integrates image recognition, voice analysis, and multi-sensor technologies to identify children’s language, cognitive, and emotional development issues at an early stage. The system improves early intervention accessibility while also building a Mandarin-language child development database to support families and public policy planning.

New Experiences, New Lifestyles: Unlocking AI’s Potential in Everyday Life and Industrial Upgrades

Liu Ming-Ku Technology’s “AI Smart Aquaculture Platform” utilizes real-time image analysis and edge computing to accurately count fish and shrimp fry while integrating inventory management and transaction transparency systems. The platform has already been implemented across 30 aquaculture farms, supporting sustainable fishery development.

Another winning team, “Winning the Case,” developed the “Smart Legal Assistant for Litigation Success,” which combines natural language processing (NLP), machine learning, and deep learning technologies to provide intelligent legal document analysis, case recommendation systems, and judicial trend prediction. Its one-stop case management platform significantly improves lawyers’ workflow efficiency and data management capabilities, driving the digital transformation of legal services.
