Technology Introduction
鳳凰立方衛星為成功大學團隊所自行設計之兩公斤級立方衛星,其長寬分別為10公分而高度為20公分。鳳凰立方衛星之技術成份包含次系統及其整合技術,包含科學酬載,結構次系統,電能次系統,機載資料處理,姿控次系統,遙傳指令次系統,熱控次系統,飛行軟體以及系統之整合。另外為期衛星系統於太空之順利運作,同時發展多項系統工程之整合、測試與操作技術。系統雖然採用商用元件,目前衛星於太空軌道順利運行一年有餘,顯示系統技術之成熟度。

PHOENIX is a 2kg-class CubeSat that is developed by National Cheng Kung University. The CubeSat system contains scientific payload, structure & mechanism subsystem, electrical power subsystem, on-board data handling subsystem, attitude determination & control subsystem, tracking/telemetry & command subsystem, thermal control subsystem, flight software, and the associated integration. To ensure a successful operation in space, system engineering practices ranging from system integration, environmental test, and operation are also developed. As a result, even though the satellite components are essentially commercially off-the-shelf, the PHEONIX has been operating for more than one year, indicating a high technical readiness level.

Scientific Innovation
鳳凰立方衛星之科學酬載為離子/中性粒子質譜儀可以量測離子、中性粒子、電子、氧原子、溫度等之物理量可增進人們對於熱氣層物理現象的理解,包含地球大氣層與太陽輻射間的關聯性,所獲得的全球分佈資訊,可進而強化預測模型,有利於地球暖化、大氣科學、太空天氣、高超音速飛行、太空旅行乃至於衛星殘骸軌道估測之研究。

The payload of the PHOENIX CubeSat is an ion and neutral particle mass spectrometer that is capable of measuring the density of ions and neutral particles in the thermosphere. The measurements are crucial for a better understanding of the atmosphere and solar radiation with good spatial and temporal resolutions, paving the foundation for researches on global warming, space weather, hypersonic flight, space travel, and debris prediction.

立方衛星之標準與發展對於太空產業產生破壞性之創新也一定程度地改變太空科研與商業之生態,引領許多太空商業公司之創立,包含次系統之製作商、測試與發射服務公司、應用立方衛星星群之商業服務等。鳳凰立方衛星之自主研製、發射與操作,團隊已掌握關鍵之次系統與整合技術,後續將結合國內資通業之優勢據以進行產業佈局。

The CubeSats have made a disruptive innovation in the space science, engineering, and business communities. With its low cost and short development time, CubeSats have become enablers in many low-earth-orbit missions and space exploration missions. The PHOENIX CubeSat development experience will further be exploited by taking advantages of the domestic information, computer, and communication technologies for business development.
